Mission statement

The Immigrant Welcome Center empowers immigrants by connecting them to the people, places, and resources that enable them to build successful lives and enrich our community.

Affiliate Projects

Affiliate projects are independent projects that are significantly aligned with the strategies of The Bicentennial Plan, and while not derived directly from the Plan 2020 planning process, have been accepted as mutually reinforcing activities.

Immigrant Welcome Center is working on the following projects:

Welcoming Cities Task Force

Almost 100 business and community leaders, including immigrants and refugees, are working on Immigrant Welcome Center’s Welcoming Cities Task Force to create an immigrant integration plan with recommendations on how to make Indianapolis and more welcoming city for immigrants.

Welcoming Indianapolis

Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC) encourages immigrants’ civic and community engagement in business, education, the arts, faith communities and neighborhoods. Through Welcoming Indianapolis, IWC is creating a more welcoming city and helping newcomers establish roots in their new home city.

Welcoming Week

Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC) helps to build strong neighborhoods through our Natural Helpers program, an initiative that connects older, established immigrants with newcomers who are transitioning to life in Indianapolis. Each September, native-born and foreign-born residents are connected through IWC’s Welcoming Week activities.

Live Local, Think Global Event

Through the annual Live Local, Think Global event, Immigrant Welcome Center helps Indianapolis corporate community understand how attracting and retaining a diverse workforce can lead to company innovation and growth and ensure our city’s economic vitality in the global marketplace.
